He asks me if I am honestly happy

I look deeply into his earnest eyes, and answer, "No"

He asks me if he could make me happy

Still searching, staring into his eyes, I answer, "I sincerely don't know"

He smiles and asks me if he can try

I blink and quickly look away, and it's then I realize,

We never said a word.
